5月前半のある夜、ずいぶん心地よい気分（ウイスキーのせい）で帰り道を歩いていると、そこはかとなく艶めかしい香りが漂っていて、それは何百というジャスミンの花が発しているフレグランス（芳香）だった。
月の出ている明るい夜は、酔いも手伝ってイメージが湧きやすいけど、それはいつも一瞬で消えてゆく儚いフレーズだったりする。
そこにきて艶やかな花の香りは心を刺激するけど、朝目覚めると「どんな夢を見たのかさえ思い出せない」といった同様の感覚をしばしば覚えるのである。
冒頭のワンフレーズはBOZ SCAGGSのようなメロディーを意識したつもりだけど、
仕上がりは全く違ったものとなった。
ところで、ジャスミンという花は夜に開花する品種が多く香りが神秘的で素晴らしい。
東洋的なものをオリエンタルというそうだが、まさにアジアの香りがする。
One night in the first half of May, as I was walking home in a very pleasant mood (due to the whiskey), there was a glamorous fragrance in the air, a fragrance emitted by hundreds of jasmine flowers.
On a bright night when the moon is out, it is easy to get an image of the place with the help of intoxication, but it is always a fleeting phrase that fades away in an instant.
The fragrance of lustrous flowers stimulates my mind, but when I wake up in the morning, I often have the same feeling that I can’t even remember what I dreamed about.
The opening phrase was intended to be a melody like that of BOZ SCAGGS, but the result was quite different.
but the result was completely different.
By the way, many varieties of jasmine flowers bloom at night, and their fragrance is mysterious and wonderful.
I heard that the oriental kind is called “oriental,” and it has a very Asian fragrance.
