マザーグースの歌詞は興味深く心に迫ってくる。というものの、たとえば子供に聴かせる歌詞としてはかなり”きわどいもの”もある。

Mother Goose’s lyrics are interesting and moving. However, some of the lyrics are quite “racy” for children to hear, for example.

殺人・女を買うなど、かなりきわどい言葉があっさり使われているのが興味深いが、nursery rhyme「子供部屋の歌」としては、とりわけ教科書に載るような歌詞ではないのではないか？

ところが子供というのはちょっと下品で下劣なものも好きだったりするよね。

It is interesting to note that the lyrics use such crude words as “murder” and “buy a girl,” but as a nursery rhyme, it is not a textbook lyric, is it?

However, children sometimes like things that are a bit vulgar and vile, don’t they?
