Alone in the night On a dark hill
With pines around me Spicy and still,
And a heaven full of stars
Over my head,
White and topaz And misty red;
Myriads with beating
Hearts of fire
That aeons
Cannot vex or tire;
Up the dome of heaven
Like a great hill,
I watch them marching
Stately and still,
And I know that I
Am honored to be
Witness
Of so much majesty.
夜に一人 暗い丘の上
スパイシーで静かな松の木に囲まれながら
満天の星空をのぞむ
白とトパーズと霧のような赤
無数の鼓動と火のような鼓動は
悩み苦しむことはない
天のドームの上に大きな丘のように
行進するのを見る
堂々と、そして静かに
そして、私は思う
その威厳のある姿に立ち会えることを光栄に思う
LINER NOTES ： STARS
文明が飽和状態ということもあり、地球の表面が明るすぎて満天の星空を見る機会が少ない。
父の実家は北海道で夜は暗い。周りには広大な農地や放牧場があり満天の星空をさえぎるものは遠くの山並みくらいなもので、訪れる度に無数の星たちを眺めたものだ。
私たちのお隣の渦巻き銀河もくっきりとその輪郭を楽しめる。あの銀河と私たちの銀河が遠い将来合体するという話をどこかで聞いたことがあるが、そんなことを思いながら天体を観測するのはとても楽しいことです。

彼女が生きた時代は、満天の星空を眺める機会が多かったのだろう。静かな丘にひとり、スパイシーな木々が放つイオンに包まれて臨む満天の星空。ロマンチックであり清らかなポエムだと思う。
Because of the saturated state of civilization, the surface of the earth is too bright and there are few opportunities to see the full starry sky.
My father’s family lives in Hokkaido, where the nights are dark. The only thing blocking the star-filled sky were the mountains in the distance, and every time I visited, I would gaze at the countless stars.
We could clearly see the outline of our neighbor galaxy, the spiral galaxy. I have heard somewhere that that galaxy and ours will merge in the distant future, and it is very enjoyable to observe celestial objects with such thoughts in mind.
STARS by Sarah Deasdale
In the era in which she lived, she must have had many opportunities to gaze at the star-filled sky. Alone on a quiet hill, surrounded by the ions emitted by the spicy trees, the sky was full of stars. It is a romantic and pure poem.
